NAD+ consultation pathways

NAD+ preparations of the kind discussed here are not ARTG-listed approved medicines, so they have not been evaluated by the TGA for safety, quality or effectiveness. Where a lawful pathway exists it runs through an individual prescription from an independent, registered healthcare practitioner and a licensed Australian compounding pharmacy — not retail or direct purchase. Yes — any prescription-only NAD+ preparation requires an individual assessment by an independent, registered healthcare practitioner, who decides whether prescribing is appropriate. We coordinate the booking and the admin around it; we have no role in that clinical decision.

The TGA has published a safety alert about products sold in Australia that claim to contain, or influence levels of, NAD, NAD+, NADH or NMN. It states that NAD, NAD+ and NADH are not currently permitted ingredients in listed medicines, and that products referring to these substances without an AUST L, AUST L(A) or AUST R number may be unapproved goods or illegally supplied — unapproved goods have not been evaluated by the TGA for quality, safety or effectiveness and carry unknown risks. No. They are separate regulatory categories. Retail products claiming NAD, NAD+ or NADH content sit outside the permitted ingredients for listed medicines. NMN has been permitted in listed medicines since 10 December 2025 but only under specific conditions — oral route only, a maximum of 500 mg per day, 12 weeks or less recommended use, adults only, and not for pregnant or lactating women. None of that describes a prescription-only preparation dispensed by a compounding pharmacy, and we make no claim about any product in either category.

Suitability is determined solely by the independent registered practitioner following clinical review — never by us, and never in advance. Personal health history, current medications, existing conditions, and individual clinical factors all inform that decision. Most enquiries do not result in a prescription, and in other cases the practitioner may recommend a different pathway or decline to prescribe. This is a clinical safeguard: suitability decisions are made independently by the practitioner, not by us.

Consultations are scheduled directly with the independent registered practitioner and typically run 20 to 40 minutes. We coordinate the booking and share preparation notes beforehand.

Any dispensing is handled independently by licensed Australian compounding pharmacies, which operate under Australian pharmacy regulation and applicable professional and quality standards. Questions about how a particular preparation is prepared, tested or documented are matters for the pharmacy and the prescribing practitioner — if you'd like to ask, email us and we'll pass the request on to them on your behalf. Compounding timeframe takes around 2.5 weeks.

Once a prescription is issued, the pharmacy handles dispensing and dispatch directly. GL Vitality Drips coordinates the process so you have one point of contact throughout.

Prescription medications cannot be returned or refunded once dispensed — this is a requirement under Australian pharmacy and therapeutic goods regulation, and applies to every licensed pharmacy nationally. If an order arrives damaged in transit, email us with photos as soon as possible and we'll coordinate a replacement with the pharmacy at no additional cost. Consultation fees paid to the independent practitioner are governed by that practitioner's own terms, which are disclosed before booking.
